Early Start

Early Start

Early start has been in Saint John’s school since 1995. It is different to other pre-schools as it is fully funded by the Department of Education and the children progress into the same Junior Infant class. This gives children the opportunity to maintain friendships, the teacher can liaise with the junior infant teacher and children are well prepared for Junior Infants.

Each unit, consisting of 15 children, has one teacher and one child care worker. We are the only Early Start in Drogheda and run two sessions, a morning session (9am – 11.30am) and an afternoon session (12pm – 2.30pm).

Parental involvement is a big part of Early Start and we encourage parents to become involved in events throughout the year such as class visits, bookstarts, the book/toy library, Christmas party, school trips and speakers. We have an open door policy and parents can speak to us any time about their child’s progress.

To find out the availability and to enroll for Early Start, please contact the school on 041 9831488 between 9.30am and 2.30pm Monday to Friday.

Can we request everyone not to smoke near the school gates. Very young children are making their way into school through these gates and it is not nice for them to have to battle through cigarette smoke to do so. The situation will be monitored by the Principal and caretaker in the coming weeks. Please work with us to ensure the health of your children.
